NINETIES FASHION REVIVAL

£18 // Asos Marketplace
The 90’s was a decade that gave us the internet, Oasis, Pokemon, and the Playstation. It also gave us some pretty questionable haircuts, some equally questionable pop bands, and some of the worst football kits to have ever graced this earth. Like the 90’s or not, its fashion has enjoyed a big resurgence recently, so I’ve written an article on what I think is worth bringing back, and what should stay in 90’s where it belongs.

Colourful Windbreakers

The weathers closing in, and this Sheffield remember, so expect it to rain nonstop until about mid march. What better way to keep dry than to get yourself a classic 90’s windbreaker? A staple for the wardrobe, add a hoody underneath to complete the look.

£18 // Asos Marketplace

We found this (above) on Asos Marketplace for only £18.00. Asos Marketplace can be a gold mine for used and vintage clothing, so check regularly for bargains galore.

Flannel Shirts

Lets be honest, anything that makes you look remotely like a manly lumberjack, who swings an axe about for a living whilst generally being an alpha male, can’t be a bad thing. Made popular in the 90’s by the likes of Kurt Cobain, and the whole of the early 90’s grunge scene, flannel shirts are a good addition to your wardrobe. Stick a plain or simple graphic tee underneath it for that classic  90’s look.

Head down to any of the vintage stores on and around Division Street, and pick yourself one up for about £10.

‘Sneakers’

Sneakers, or Trainers to us normal British folk, the 90’s was a decade of under rated trainers in my opinion. New Balance made their name in fashion during 90’s, and has had a resurgence in the past few years.

£65 // Size

My personal favourites though are the Reebok Workout Plus. Simple and clean, until you inevitably wear them out to Tuesday Club, these trainers are a throwback to Reeboks original Workout sneaker range, and will go with almost any outfit.

Fila/Ellesse

Casual sportswear in the 90’s was king, years before it was associated with ‘Chavs’ and Vicky Pollard, and during these years Fila and Ellesse were the go to brands. Along with the many other fashion items making a comeback Ellesse and Fila have got in on the game, releasing some timeless tees, jumpers, and track jackets.

£20 // Asos
Check out Asos marketplace for some vintage 90’s gear, but if you want something a tad newer, then follow this link, a good tee will set you back around £20.

Backward Caps

Wearing your cap backwards is like Marmite. You either love it, or think that you look like an utter bell end. Personally I love it, and so did the 90’s. Made fashionable by TJ Detweiler from beloved 90's cartoon series Recess, in my opinion anyway, the modern equivalent recently has been with snapbacks.

But if we’re sticking to the 90’s theme, a five panel is the obvious choice. Stand out from the standard cap crowd with one of these babies, at £30 they can seem a but expensive, but are worth the investment.

What should be left in the 90’s

A mix of curtains and wet look gel.
Only good for hiding the fact
you skip leg day.
I’m not going to even explain these, they’re all shocking and need to be forgotten, forever.

Wet Look Hair Gel

Curtains

Baggy jeans
